DALLAS, PA (January 25, 2020) -- Two of the top women's swimming programs in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) battled Saturday afternoon at Anderson Center, but host Misericordia University had just enough to edge out the King's College swimming team 140-118 in a dual meet in Dallas, PA.

Misericordia started the afternoon with a win in the 400 medley relay, as King's "A" relay finished second thanks to Liz Savidge (1:02.43), Amina Zaidi (1:14.07), Kaelyn Gardner (1:03.71) and Claire Coe (57.02) posting a final time of 4:17.23 for four points. The Monarchs picked up another win in the 100 backstroke, as Savidge swam a season-best time of 1:02.86 to edge Victoria Wrobleski of Misericordia and her 1:03.22. Zaidi finished third in the 100 breaststroke to lead King's in that event, while Kellyo Keane raced to a personal-best time of 1:20.93 for fourth place.

King's would dominate the 200 butterfly, taking the top three spots behind a very strong time from freshman Rachel Woomer, who postes a 2:10.14 which was just off her season-best time. Gardner was second with a 2:27.58, and Fleisher came back from her mile win to post a 2:32.64 for third place. Majka led King's in the 50 free with a 26.40, and fellow freshman Madison Modugno was fourth after recording a 27.08.

The Monarchs saw Majka once again lead the way in a freestyle event, as she was third in the 100 free with a 57.54, and Abigail Strennan was fifth after swimming a 1:00.63 for fifth place. In the 200 backstroke, Noelle Pedersen was second with a 2:20.39, while Savidge followed with a 2:22.88 for third.

Coe helped King's go 1-2 in the 500 freestyle, as she won the event by 10 seconds with a 5:40.40. Karensky was second after swimming a 5:50.83, and Booth added a fourth-place finish with a 6:09.68. Woomer won her second race of the day in the 100 fly, swimming a 1:01.07 for a narrow 0.33 second win, and Gardner was fourth with a 1:04.89.

Savidge swam a 2:24.46 in the 200 IM to take third place, and Fleisher swam a season-best in the 200 IM with a 2:29.02. In the 200 free relay, King's "A" relay of Coe, Modugno, Woomer and Majka hung in there but couldn't pull through while finishing second with a 1:47.07.

The Monarchs (6-3) will now look ahead to next week's regular season finale on the road at Wilkes University in the Wyoming Valley CYC at 1 p.m. in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
