WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 5, 2021) – Junior
Emily Morano earned two wins to lead the King's College women's tennis team in their 6-3 loss to Cairn at Kirby Park on Tuesday afternoon in their 2021 fall finale.
At No. 1 singles, junior
Addie Atkins dropped her opening set, 6-3, before rallying in set two to win, 6-4, against Cairn Paige Kemper. Then in the final set, Atkins fell in the final set, 10-5. In No. 2 singles play, sophomore
Braelan Drollas lost in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, to Brianna Miller. Sophomore
Briana Moraca earned a singles win for the Monarchs, defeating Ersy Neal in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.
In No. 4 singles play, sophomore
Jackie Costello fell to Rachel Campbell-Robertson, 6-0, 6-2, while first year
Sarah Stettler lost to Abby Horning with identical 6-3 losses. Finally to round out singles play, Morano earned a singles win in No. 6 action, defeating Daphne Neal, 6-1, 6-3.
The Monarch duo of Atkins and Drollas lost to the Cairn pair of Kemper and Miller, 8-3, while Moraca and Costello dropped their No. 2 doubles contest to Campbell-Robertson and Neal, 8-4. To conclude the match for King's and to earn their final win of the match was the doubles pair of Stettler and Morano as they defeated Theresa Beck and Gabriella Hurst, 8-4.
