King's Women's Swimming Tripped up at Home by Misericordia

WILKES-BARRE, PA (January 22, 2022) --- The King's College women's swimming team were defeated 142-58 in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) dual against local rival Misericordia University. 

Jamie Navarro picked up the lone win on the day for the Monarchs in the 200 IM with a stellar time of 2:25.83, nearly four seconds faster than the second place finisher. 

KC began the day with the 200 Medley Relay where the squad of Kate Duffy, Navarro, Corinne Smith, and Maddison Quick took second out of five teams with a time of 2:02.73.

Smith placed third in the 200 free with a swim of 2:20.20, while Quick and Madison Modugno went three-four in the 50 free with times of 27.09 and 27.67 respectively. 

In Navarro's 200 IM win, Emilia Serafin notched second place with a time of 2:29.04. Quick then earned another strong finish in the 100 free, booking a 58.84 for the Monarchs which earned her second.

Duffy swam her way to a second place finish in the 200 backstroke, clocking in at 2:28.48. In the 200 breaststroke, Navarro and Serafin placed second and third respectively.

The Monarchs will return to action next Saturday at Scandlon Pool for a cross-town rivalry meet with Wilkes University starting at 1:00 PM.
