Monarch Swimming Continues to Improve in Third Day of MAC Championships

YORK, PA (February 12, 2022) --- Saturday featured several season-bests for the King's men's and women's swimming teams as they competed in the third day of MAC Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center.

Session V

Saturday morning featured mainly sprint events with the exception of the 800 free relay to close out the fifth session of the MAC Championships. Erik Aguero started off the day for King's in the 200 fly where he earned the top seed in the C final with a time of 2:09.62. Sarah Fleisher followed up by earning a spot in the B final of the 200 fly, shredding off over 15 seconds from her season-best. 

Joel Williams and David Rinehimer each performed strong in the men's 100 backstroke, posting season-best times of 58.51 and 59.23 respectively. The duo earned a spot in the C final on Saturday evening. 

Kris Boxter swam his way to a spot in the A final and posted a season-best of 1:00.60 in the 100 breast. Kyle Altman shaved nearly a second off his best time of the year and earned a spot in the B final, while Alex Schwartz topped his season-best by over two seconds to secure the final spot in the C final. On the women's side, Jamie Navarro and Emilia Serafin each dropped time with swims of 1:13.62 and 1:15.65. The pair will compete together in the C final tonight.

Session VI

In the evening session, Aguero dominated his heat while shaving over a second off his prelim time in the 200 fly. In the same event, Fleisher also dropped time with a swim of 2:22.50 that landed her 13th place overall. 

The C final of the men's 100 back saw Joel Williams swim a season-best time of 57.98. In the same heat, Rinehimer swam a 59.36 to place 23rd overall. 

Kris Boxter earned a podium finish for King's in the 100 breaststroke where he placed seventh to earn 23 points for his squad. On the women's side, Navarro took second in the C final while posting a season-best of 1:13.17. Serafin also recorded her best time of the season in the 100 breast with a 1:15.49 to place 22nd overall. 

The men's 800 free relay team of Jared Stephan, Austin Morris, Andrew Pursel, Anthony Ursini capped off the night in style by making the podium with an eighth place finish. 

Both squads currently sit in ninth place in the team standings. The fourth and final day of the 2022 MAC Championships will get underway tomorrow morning at 10 AM.
