Tomko and Le Cadre Set New Program Records

SELINSGROVE, PA (February 12, 2022) – Justin Le Cadre and Zoe Tomko each shattered an indoor program record today at the Susquehanna Invitational today. 
 
Le Cadre out threw his own previous program record in shot put, and Tomko outpaced the previous program record in the 3000 meter race.
 
On the Track
60 Meter Dash
First year Abigail Springer led the way for the women's team. Springer earned a top twenty five finish with a time of 8.44 seconds. First year Juliet Brady was not far behind, crossing the line with a time of 8.47 seconds. Junior Angelina Broga rounded out the event for the women's squad, finishing with a time of 8.56 seconds, which earns her a MAC championship qualification. Mylan Crews of Saint Francis University (SFU) won the event with a time of 7.67 seconds.
 
Junior Brendan Avery paced the men's team, earning a top twenty finish with a time of 7.46 seconds. Junior Alex Solano was right on his heels, also earning a top twenty finish with a time of 7.48 seconds. In his season debut, junior Malkam Lawrence crossed the line with a time of 7.66 seconds. Sophomore Andrew Sabo finished with a time of 7.91 seconds. Conrad Say of Johns Hopkins squeaked out the victory, finishing with a time of 6.98 seconds, just one hundredth faster than the runner up.
 
200 Meter Dash
Junior Angelina Broga paced the Monarchs, crossing the line with a time of 28.28 seconds for the first of two top twenty finishes. First year Abigail Springer rounded out the top twenty, finishing with a time of 28.35 seconds. First year Juliet Brady wrapped things up for King's, finishing with a time of 28.84 seconds. Alvernia's Elisabeth Schwarz took the top spot with a time of 26.40 seconds. 
 
Junior Alex Solano was the lone Monarch from the men's team. Solano earned his second top twenty five finish, crossing the line with a time of 24.75 seconds. Elliott Davis of the host Susquehanna outpaced the competition to finish with a time of 23.04 seconds.
 
400 Meter Dash
First year Autumn Steibler was the lone runner for the women's team. Steibler made her debut in the event today, finishing with a time of 1:09.75. Sarah Castronova of Division II Bloomsburg took the win with a time of 1:00.62.
 
First year Andrew Novrocki earned the first of a few top three finishes for the Monarchs. Novrocki smashed his previous personal best, crossing the line with a time of 52.30 seconds on his way to a third place finish. Elliot Davis of Susquehanna and Brady Dowell of Bloomsburg beat out Novrocki for the top spots, finishing with times of 50.94 seconds and 52.02 seconds respectively.
 
800 Meter Dash
Senior Beth Albright and sophomore Nicole Zambetti earned top fifteen finishes in the race. Zambetti crossed the line with a time of 2:32.29 and with Albright right on her heels as she finished with a time of 2:32.78 in the same heat. First year Julia Johnson made her career debut in the event, finishing with a time of 2:40.62. Senior Jen O'Connor followed, finishing with a time of 2:43.36. First year Elizabeth Porto rounded out the field for the Monarchs, finishing with a time of 2:52.13. Kate Ross of Susquehanna finished ahead of the rest, crossing the line with a time of 2:21.02.
 
First year Tyler Petty made his career debut today. Petty earned a top twenty five finish in his debut, finishing with a time of 2:07.32. Sophomore Garret Tomasek also made his career debut in the event, finishing with a time of 2:17.90. Tyler Bailey of Bloomsburg took the top spot with a time of 1:59.37.
 
3000 Meter Run
First year Zoe Tomko absolutely shattered her previous personal best and the previous program record today. Tomko shaved over 20 seconds off of her previous personal best to beat the previous program best by over 10 seconds. Tomko finished with a time of 10:40.99 on her way to a third place finish. Johns Hopkins runners Miranda Jimenex and Triya Roy took the top spots, finish with times of 10:35.85 and 10:38.73 respectively.
 
First year Logan Taylor earned himself a top twenty five finish. Taylor crossed the line with a time of 10:19.14. The event was led by Dickinson's Charles Scharf with a time of 8:41.74.
 
5000 Meter Run
First year Mikaela Majcher was the lone Monarch in the event. Majcher earned a top fifteen finish, finishing up with a time of 20:56.21. Jessica Hoffman of Scranton took the top spot with a time of 18:10.65.
 
4x200 Meter Relay
The women's squad sent out first years Abigail Springer, Juliet Brady, and Laura Dainauski and junior Angelina Broga. The squad earned a fourth place finish, crossing the line with a time of 1:54.53. The squad out of Dickinson captured the victory, finishing with a time of 1:49.72.
 
4x400 Meter Relay
The women's team sent out two squads for this race. Squad A, comprised of first years Autumn Steibler and Laura Dainauski, sophomore Nicole Zambetti, and senior Beth Albright, earned a seventh place finish with a time of 4:26.58. Squad B, comprised of senior Jen O'Connor and first years Julia Johnson, Elizabeth Porto, and Mikaela Majcher, finished with a time of 4:47.36. Dickinson's squad A captured the victory again with a time of 4:13.15.
 
The men's team fielded one squad, but one squad was all they need. The squad, comprised of junior Brendan Avery, sophomore Garret Tomasek, and first years Travis Lane and Andrew Novrocki, captured the top spot in this event. The squad finished with a time of 3:38.41, less than 3 seconds off the program record.
 
In the Field
High Jump
First year Madison Armitage found herself getting some extra practice in today. Armitage unfortunately did not record a height this weekend. Armitage will look to bounce back next weekend when the team returns to Susquehanna. Danielle Fisk of Cortland St. cleared a height of 1.63 meters on her way to a victory.
 
Pole Vault
First year Victoria Zultevicz made her collegiate debut in the event today. Zultevicz unfortunately was unable to record a mark, but she too will look to spring back next week. Taryen Silvernale surpassed the competition, clearing a height of 3.43 meters on her way to a victory.
 
Long Jump
First year Abigail Springer made her collegiate debut in the event. Springer was unable to record a mark unfortunately, so she will look to sign her name in the books next week. Sarah Wagner of Misericordia won the event with a mark of 5.58 meters.
 
First year Andrew Novrocki continued his impressive showing today as he earned another top fifteen finish. Novrocki recorded a mark of 6.19 meters on his second attempt. First year, and multi event specialist, Travis Lane recorded a mark of 4.63 meters on his first attempt. Justin Canedy of Johns Hopkins hit a mark of 7.01 meters en route to his victory.
 
Triple Jump
Junior Gabriella Conforti had some struggles but was able to clear a mark of 10.48 meters on her third attempt. The mark was high enough to earn her a spot in the finals in which she finished seventh. Conforti's mark is a season high. Dahlia Hosey of Bloomsburg earned the top spot with a mark of 11.52 meters.
 
Shot Put
Two out of three Monarchs earned top ten finishes today. Sophomore Adele Hollander just missed the podium, finishing ninth with a mark of 10.42 meters. Senior Danielle Kitchner rounded out the top ten, finishing with a mark of 10.33 meters. Sophomore Bukun Modebe hit a mark of 8.84 meters. Brenna Karnish of Misericordia threw a mark of 12.46 meters for the win.
 
Senior Justin Le Cadre made today count. Le Cadre set a new program record of 15.50 meters today on his way to a second place finish. Le Cadre beat out his own previous record by 3 centimeters and will look to only improve in the coming weeks. First year Carnell Kemp continued his very impressive collegiate career. Kemp also threw for a personal best as he hit a mark of 14.56 meters on his way to a fifth place podium finish. First year Travis Lane continued the trend as he threw a new personal best 10.57 meters. Sophomore Jetli Tang threw a mark of 10.17 meters. Le Cadre was only beaten out by Nickolas Hyde of SFU who threw for a mark of 17.28 meters.
 
Weight Throw
Sophomores Anna Bellucci and Adele Hollander battled some setbacks today. Bellucci threw for a mark of 10.15 meters while Hollander threw for a mark of 9.43 meters. Brenna Karnish swept the throwing events as she threw for a mark of 16.51 meters to win.
 
Senior Justin Le Cadre continued his throwing prowess as he threw a new personal best in this event as well. Le Cadre broke the 17 meter mark for the first time as he recorded a mark of 17.11 meters on his way to a victory. First year Carnell Kemp also continued the trend as he threw a new personal best. Kemp finished in the top twenty as he threw a mark of 12.15 meters. Sophomore Jetli Tang threw for a mark of 10.81 meters.
