KISSIMMEE, FL (March 8, 2022) -- Junior
Emily Morano recorded the lone win in the King's College women's tennis team's 8-1 loss to Trine University on Tuesday morning at the Star Island Resort.
Morano posted the win at No. 6 singles, winning the opening set 6-3 before falling 2-6 in set two. Morano earned the deciding set in a hard-fought battle, 10-8, over Trine's Lizzie Welker.
At No. 1 singles, junior
Addie Atkins fell to Ashley Spirrison, 6-0 and 6-1. Then in No. 2 singles action first year
Ashley Kenia dropped sets of 6-1 and 6-0 to Jaydn Davis. The No. 3 singles matchup saw sophomore
Briana Moraca drop 6-1 and 6-0 sets to Eva Morales.
No. 4 singles play saw sophomore
Jackie Costello fall to Trine's Ellie Cole by scores of 6-1 and 6-2, while first year
Hailey D'Amato lost 6-3 and 6-2 to Kennedy Outwater.
In doubles play, the No. 1 doubles pair of Atkins and Kenia fell 8-0 to the Thunder duo. At No. 2 doubles, Moraca and Costello lost by a score of 8-3, before No. 3 doubles saw D'Amato and Morano team up to fall 8-2.
King's will be back in action on Wednesday, March 9 as they have a busy day as they open the morning with Judson University at 9:30 a.m. at the Star Island Resort before taking on Ohio Wesleyan University at 6:00 p.m. at the Oak Street Park location.
