WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 11, 2022) -- Junior
Emily Morano posted the lone win for the King's College women's tennis team as the Monarchs fell, 8-1, to the visiting Misericordia University at Kirby Park on Monday afternoon. The Monarchs drop to 1-11 overall and 0-3 MAC Freedom play, while the Cougars remain unbeaten at 10-0 with a 4-0 mark in conference play.
Morano earned her win at No. 5 singles with set wins of 6-4 and 6-3 over Misericordia's Cassie Benderavich. At No. 1 singles, first year
Ashley Kenia fell by matching sets of 6-0 to Brianna Pizzano. Sophomore
Briana Moraca dropped sets of 6-1 to Misericordia's Emily Brecker at No. 2 singles, while first year
Hailey D'Amato lost by set scores of 6-0 and 6-4 to Hailey Loughlin at No. 3 singles.
No. 4 singles play saw sophomore
Jackie Costello drop matching 6-1 sets to Lydia Barbour. Sophomore
Braelan Drollas lost by sets of 6-0 to Misericordia's Lauren Visalli.
Doubles play saw Kenia and Moraca fall, 8-0, to the Cougars pair at No. 1 doubles. Costello and Morano lost a 8-1 match to the Cougars at No. 2 doubles, while first year
Sarah Stettler and D'Amato dropped an 8-2 decision to Misericordia's No. 3 double pair.
The Monarchs will be off for the holiday break before returning to play on Tuesday, April 19 as they travel to Lycoming College for the MAC Freedom match at 3:30 p.m.
