WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 23, 2022) -- The King's College women's tennis team picked up their first MAC Freedom win of the season as they defeated Arcadia University, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon at Kirby Park. The Monarchs improve to 2-11, while the Knights drop to 0-8.
King's picked up four wins in the singles competition as first year 
Ashley Kenia earned a win at No. 2 singles over Kate Wyszkowski by set scores of 6-0 and 6-1. Junior 
Emily Morano picked u p a win at No. 4 singles as she defeated Gertride Jeack, 6-2 and 6-4. First year 
Hailey D'Amato won by scores of 6-1 and 6-2 over Faith Rineer at No. 5 singles, while sophomore 
Jackie Costello rounded out the singles wins by defeating Bridgit Terry by matching set scores of 6-0.
Doubles wins came at No. 2 doubles as Morano and D'Amato defeated the Knights pair, 8-2. No. 3 doubles saw the team of Costello and sophomore 
Braelan Drollas beat Arcadia's pair by a score of 8-4.
Junior 
Addie Atkins fell in No. 1 singles play, falling in the opening set 7-6 (4-0) before winning set two, 6-4. She then dropped the tough final set, 10-4, to Julia Paraboschi. Sophomore 
Briana Moraca dropped a No. 3 singles contest to Claire Andrews as she fought the whole way, losing set one 7-6 (4-0) and earning the set two win, 7-5, before falling 10-7 in the deciding set. The No. 1 doubles team of Atkins and Kenia dropped a gritty match of 8-4 to the Knights.
King's will be back on the courts tomorrow afternoon as they take on FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ at 11:00 a.m.
