Hailey D'Amato had a strong outing in the King's College women's tennis team's fall opener, earning three wins and capturing the No. 2 singles title at the King's Invitational on Sunday at Kirby Park.

The No. 1 singles round robin featured
Ashley Kenia falling to Scranton's Daniella Wisniewski, 6-1 and 6-2, before battling back in her second match to defeat FDU-Florham's Rachel Kappelmier, 6-1 and 6-3. At No. 2 singles,
Hailey D'Amato won both her matches to claim the title as she defeated FDU-Florham's Ella Olsen by a pair of 6-2 sets and Scranton's Brigid O'Mara, 6-2 and 6-1. In No. 3 singles play,
Jackie Costello dropped her lone match, 6-2 and 6-3, to FDU-Florham's Ashley Gaetani, while
Carlee Dellose faced Scranton's Olivia Sirico and fell, 6-2 and 6-4. Dellose

Dellose had a busy day for the Monarchs, taking on Scranton's Olivia Sirico in the No. 3 singles bracket before falling, 6-2 and 6-4, while dropping a 6-2 and 6-0 decision to Scranton's Paige Hunt in No. 4 singles action.
Sarah Stettler took on two Scranton foes in the No. 5 singles bracket, falling first to Maddy Abood by matching 6-2 sets then to Taralynn Reilly, 7-6 and 6-2. The No. 6 singles action saw
Emma Rooney split her matches, first battling her way to a win over Scranton's Haley Kenny after dropping the first set, 6-2, by claiming the last two by scores of 6-2 and 10-5. She then lost in a 6-0 and 6-3 bout to Scranton's Julia Nocentino.

Doubles play saw the No. 1 pair of Kenia and D'Amato defeat the FDU-Florham pair, 8-3, before falling to the Scranton doubles team, 8-2. In No. 2 doubles action, the King's team of Costello and Dellose fell in a close matchup with FDU-Florham, 8-7 (5), before dropping another tough contest, 8-7 (3), to the Scranton team. To wrap up the invitational, the No. 3 doubles pairing of Rooney and Stettler fell by an 8-2 decision to Scranton and an 8-1 final to FDU-Florham.

King's will take a quick hiatus over fall break before returning to action on Saturday, October 14 as they host Cairn University and Penn College in non-conference play beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Kirby Park.
