ANNVILLE, PA (February 1, 2023) -- For the first time since 2017, a King's College women's cross country runner was recognized by the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) on the 2022 Women's Cross Country Academic All-MAC team. As released on Wednesday afternoon, sophomore Zoe Tomko picked up the honor for her first in her career to add to another strong fall performance.

A total of 10 student-athletes were named to the 2022 Women's Cross Country Academic All-MAC teams as recognized for their academic and athletic excellence.

The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote for the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success. A student-athlete must have a fall semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award.

Tomko earns her first Academic All-MAC honors for her young career after posting yet another strong cross country season this past fall. The two-time All-MAC Second Team recipient finished 13^th overall at the 2022 MAC Championships and picked up her second MAC Runner of the Week award on September 5. A two-time MAC Academic Honor Roll honoree, Tomko served as the top runner for King's all season long.

On the courses, the sophomore set new personal-best times on a 4,000-meter course at the MU Invitational in 15:46,4, on a 5,000-meter course at the Dutchmen Invitational in 19:37.5, and on a 6,000-meter course at the Lock Haven Invitational in 22:43.3.

Tomko was stellar in the classroom this fall as well, as the physician assistant major recorded a perfect 4.00 GPA. She is very active in the King's community as well as she is also a member of the King's women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams.
