WILKES-BARRE, PA (July 24, 2023) -- With the anticipated return of our King's College student-athletes just a few short weeks away, it is with great pleasure that King's athletics and head coach Martha Kerrick announce the addition of Caitlin Wood to the King's field hockey coaching staff ahead of the 2023 season.

"I am so excited to come back to King's and coach for the school that allowed me to be where I am today," said Wood. "I hope my knowledge and love for the sport will be a positive influence on the team. I am also ready to step into my role recruiting future Monarchs!"

Wood is a 2018 graduate of King's College with a bachelor's degree in early childhood and special education. The local Plains, Pa. native competed for the Monarch field hockey team in 2015 and 2016 after transferring from Division II West Chester University. With the Golden Rams, Wood had two NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the NCAA Final Four in 2014. At King's, Wood was a MAC Freedom Second Team honoree in 2015 before helping the Monarchs win the 2016 MAC Freedom title with a bid to the NCAA tournament.

Since her time at King's, Wood entered the coaching field and served as a women's lacrosse assistant and field hockey assistant at nearby Keystone College in 2019. Wood also earned her certification as a PIAA field hockey referee and has spent three years officiating. Wood then transitioned into her current role as an elementary autistic support teacher in the Hazleton Area School District since 2020.

"Caitlin is a great addition to our coaching staff, bringing a wealth of field hockey knowledge and a love of the sport," said Kerrick. "Her positive attitude is very valuable."

Wood's duties will begin on August 1 ahead of the 2023 preseason, and she will be involved with recruiting as well as on field responsibilities.
