SCRANTON, PA (April 22, 2025) -- The King's College men's golf team battled on the road against Scranton and Misericordia. The Royals defeated the Monarchs 311-350, and the Cougars edged passed King's 345-350.
 
Richard Essen of Scranton had a perfect round to take first place as shot an even 72. Misericordia's Brett Herman carded a score of 75 (+3) for second. JP Gilroy was a stroke behind with a 76 (+4) for the third top spot.
 
Scranton's golfers took the next three places as Marshall Kain scored a 78 (+6), Liam Burtis had a score of 79 (+7), and Gehrig Shannon followed with a round of 82 (+10). Brendan Percey carded a score of 86 (+14) for seventh place.
 
Misericordia teammates Matt Maransky and Cameron Purrington tied at the eighth spot with a round of 89 (+17). Cameron Jones, the Cougars' Brian Hough, and teammate Ryan Vallach evened at 10^th place as they collected a score of 92 (+20). Alexander Ray (96) and Matt Metsa (98) rounded the Monarchs for the last two spots.
 
King's will compete in the MAC Freedom Golf Championships at Shawnee Inn & Resort in East Stroudsburg on May 3^rd-4^th.
