WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 24, 2025) -- On Wednesday afternoon, JP Andrejko announced he will step down as the Men's Basketball Head Coach, effective immediately, ahead of the 2025-26 season. He will maintain his role as Men's Golf Head Coach at King's College.

"For 24 years, JP has been a cornerstone of King's Athletics, serving as a golf coach, basketball coach, and mentor to countless coaches and student-athletes," said Andy Orlowski, Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation. "His unwavering commitment to developing young men not just as athletes, but as people, has left a lasting legacy. JP's ability to connect, inspire, and lead with compassion has shaped lives."

Andrejko completed his 24th season at the helm of the Monarchs in 2024-25 and will conclude his career as the all-time wins lead in King's men's basketball history with 309 victories. His teams also claimed three MAC Freedom Championships and berths to the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball tournament in 2004-05, 2006-07, and 2007-08, along with eight playoff appearances.

Individually, Andrejko coached 28 All-MAC Freedom selections, including 13 first teamers, four MAC Senior Scholar-Athletes of the Year, the 2005 MAC Freedom Player of the Year in Brian Horgan, and three MAC Freedom Rookies of the Year. He also picked up his own post-season honor as he was named MAC Freedom Coach of the Year in 2004-05.

His student-athletes scatter the men's basketball record books with a dozen 1,000-point scorers, the all-time leader in field goal percentage, three-point field goal percentage, and both free throws made and attempted.

Off the court, his teams earned academic success and honors, with eight CSC Academic All-District honorees, 169 MAC Academic Honor Roll recipients, and several NABC Team Academic Excellence and Honors Court recognitions.

"Generations of student-athletes have been fortunate to be coached by someone who genuinely cares for them as individuals first," added Orlowski. "His influence will be felt for years to come, carried in the memories, friendships, and lessons forged on the court, on the course, and across campus. JP deserves nothing but the best in this next chapter of life. I know he's excited for what's ahead, and I couldn't be more excited for him."
