WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 26,2025)-- Ahead of the 2025 season, Head Coach Race Bennett announced the newest addition to the King's College Men's Ice Hockey staff, naming Cody Wiggins as assistant coach.
"I am honored and excited to join the men's hockey program at King's, and I would like to thank Race Bennett for this opportunity," said Wiggins. "I couldn't be more excited to get to work and take this team to the next level. We have a lot of work to do, but I am confident our group has an exciting future ahead."
Wiggins joins the team following an extended public relations internship with the Philadelphia Flyers, where he supported game-day operations at the Wells Fargo Center from 2022 to 2025. His responsibilities included setting up and managing press box logistics, producing statistical research for game notes, and transcribing player and coach press conferences. He also facilitated media requests and credential distribution and was selected to assist at the 2024 NHL Stadium Series at MetLife Stadium.
Concurrently, he served with the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League from 2021 to 2025 as a penalty box attendant and TV timeout coordinator, working closely with referees, producers, and in-game operations staff to ensure efficient execution of live game logistics. He also gained early experience in hockey operations with the Saint Joseph's University club hockey team in 2021, assisting the head coach with game film analysis, pre-scouting reports, and in-game statistical tracking.
Outside of sports, Wiggins previously supported the Office of Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester as a legislative intern, where he contributed to communications initiatives, constituent service efforts, and federal grant processing during the summer of 2024.
"I am excited to announce the addition of Cody Wiggins to our staff," added Bennett. "Cody's experience in coaching, communications, and working in the Philadelphia Flyers organization will be a tremendous asset in the growth of the program."
A magna cum laude graduate of Saint Joseph's University, Wiggins earned a B.A. in Communications and Media Studies with a minor in English and was recognized by the university's communication department with the Outstanding Innovator Award in 2025.
His responsibilities will be to assist in all facets of the program such as recruiting, operations, practice and game preparation, scouting, and more.
