WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 7, 2025) -- The King's College women's tennis team opened their fall 2025 season this weekend as they hosted their annual King's Fall Invitational at Kirby Park.
In the No. 1 singles bracket,
Carlee Dellose won her first-round match over Eastern, battling back from a 6-4 setback in the first set to take the next two, 6-2 and 11-9. She then fell in the quarterfinals to Lebanon Valley, 8-0. At No. 2 singles,
Kiki Nweje fell in the first round to Lycoming as she won the first set, 6-0, but dropped sets of 7-6 and 10-2.
The No. 3 singles bracket saw
Betsy Allen downed, 6-2 and 6-1, to Elizabethtown, while
Kimberly Dinh lost at No. 4 singles, 6-1 and 6-0, to Misericordia.
Allison Van Pelt secured her first collegiate win in the No. 5 singles bracket, advancing over Penn College before falling 8-1 in the quarterfinals to Eastern.
Madeline Sirianni earned a first-round bye in the No. 6 singles bracket and advanced to the semifinals with an 8-7 win over Arcadia. She then dropped a pair of 6-0 sets to Wilkes in that semifinal match up. In No. 7 singles play,
Miley Caetano lost by sets of 6-0 and 6-1 to Misericordia.
In doubles action, the No. 1 doubles pair of Dellose and Nweje advanced to the second round and defeated Arcadia, 6-2, before falling in the semifinals by a 6-3 setback to Wilkes. Allen and Dinh teamed up at No. 2 doubles and dropped a 6-1 decision to Wilkes in the quarterfinals, while Van Pelt and Sirianni faced a 6-0 defeat at No. 3 doubles to the Scranton team.
The women's tennis team will return to play on September 25 as they travel to Lycoming for a non-conference match at the Brandon Tennis Park Courts.
