Box Score WILKES-BARRE, PA (December 3, 2025) – The King's College men's basketball team dropped a non-conference home matchup on Saturday afternoon, falling to the University of Scranton, 88-68, at McGrane Gymnasium. The loss moves the Monarchs to 3-8 overall while the Royals improve to 10-1 on the season.
Scranton came out strong, racing to an early 14-8 lead behind quick finishes in the paint and a pair of threes. King's responded with a balanced attack, including a layup from
Sean Forrest, trimming the deficit to 16-12 with just under ten minutes remaining in the first half.
Despite the effort, the Royals maintained control, using multiple second-chance opportunities and strong perimeter shooting to carry a 46-33 advantage into halftime.
Ben Rodner-Tims led the Monarchs in the opening stanza with eight points while
Matt Christian added five.
The second half opened with Scranton extending their lead to as many as 20, as the Monarchs were unable to get consistent buckets. King's found moments of success from beyond the arc, with Christian and
Darren Yost hitting triples to keep the deficit within 18.
Forrest contributed key finishes in the paint while
Devin Kimmick added points at the foul line, but the Royals' offensive efficiency proved decisive, as they held on for a 88-68 victory.
Scranton shot 55.7% from the field and 56.5% from three-point range, holding the Monarchs to 38.5% shooting overall and just 28.6% from deep.
Christian paced King's with a career-high 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting, hitting four of eight threes. Rodner-Tims finished with 16 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while Forrest added nine points. Kimmick scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds.
The Monarchs will look to rebound on Wednesday, January 7
th, as they host Lebanon Valley College for the beginning of MAC-Freedom play with tipoff set for 7:00 p.m.
