Sarah O'Doherty hit a jumper, boosting King's to a 5-3 lead. A foul on the Monarchs would allow Widener's Becky Tyler to make an old-fashioned three point play, putting Widener up 6-5.
Mid-way through the first-half, Widener built a seven-point lead over King's, when Lindsay Pepino hit two free-throws, allowing Widener a 13-6 lead. The Lady Monarchs whittled down the lead and went up 15-13 at 6:40. After the Pride knotted the score at 15, King's again took the lead 18-15. The Pride however, took the lead again at 17:11 when Barbara Fleming hit a three pointer, moving Widener up 33-31. The home team was able to hold King's off for the next 12 minutes of play before King's tied the game at 48, and then took the lead 49-48 on two Malshefski free-throws. But the Pride offense was able to nudge King's, winning with a final score of 57-54.
