KING'S WOMEN'S LACROSSE DEFEATS WILKES
WILKES-BARRE --
Alicia Cox scored a career-high five goals and Michele O'Brien and
Reanna Lachner added four each to power the King's College women's lacrosse team to a 18-16 victory over host Wilkes University Tuesday at Ralston Field.
With the win, King's snapped a seven-game losing streak, improving to 3-11 overall and 2-5 in the Middle Atlantic Conference. Wilkes, meanwhile, fell to 5-9 and 1-6.
King's trailed 8-5 at the half and by as much as 11-5 early in the second stanza before fighting back. The Lady Monarchs outscored the Lady Colonels 13-8 in the second half, including 13-5 over the final 24:29 of the game.
O'Brien added two assists in the game while Lachner tallied one helper.
Grace King contributed two goals and one assist while
Melissa Gates,
Rachel Azar, and Candace Russ chipped in with one goal each.
Heather Kelly made nine saves in the contest.
Justine Leggio led Wilkes with eight goals.
The Lady Monarchs will travel to meet Susquehanna University Thursday at 4:00 p.m. in Selinsgrove.
