KING'S WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO BIG SECOND HALF BY SUSQUEHANNA
SELINSGROVE -- Host Susquehanna University broke open a game tied 8-8 at the half with 15 second-half goals as the Crusaders posted a 23-10 victory over King's College in a non-conference women's lacrosse matchup Thursday in Selinsgrove.
With the win, Susquehanna improved to 5-9 on the year while King's slipped to 3-12.
The teams entered the half deadlocked at 8-8 and traded scores early in the second half to stand at 9-9 with 23:16 remaining in the contest. But the Crusaders blew the game open with 13 unanswered goals to built a 22-9 lead with 3:32 left.
Erin McGarrigle led Susquehanna with five goals while Meghan Cadigan and Sarah Frakowiak tallied four goals each.
Grace King led the Lady Monarchs with three goals while Candace Russ added two goals and one assist.
Reanna Lachner netted two goals for King's while Kira Shelly posted one goal and one assist.
Alicia Cox and
Melissa Gates chipped in with one goal each.
Heather Kelly made 16 saves on the day.
King's will close out its season Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when the Lady Monarchs host Messiah College at Betzler Fields.
