Nealer Sets School Record for Lady Monarch Swimmers

MAHWAH, NJ -- Maggie Nealer set a new school record in the 500 freestyle, but the King's College women's swim team came out on the short end of a tri-meet Thursday at Ramapo College.  The Lady Monarchs (7-8) were edged out in a 49-45 loss to host Ramapo 49-45 while also dropping a 53-37 verdict to Montclair State.

Nealer swam to a King's record time of 5:49.34 in winning the 500 freestyle, surpassing the previous mark of 5:52.19 set by Chrissy Rossowski in 1996-97.  Nealer was also second in the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:11.34.

King's team of Nealer, Amanda Casey, Caitlin Casey, and Becca Smith won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.05.
 
Smith was second in the 1000-freestyle with a time of 12:09.65. Caitlin Casey was second in the 200-butterfly at 2:32.18. Krystina Homanko was second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 3:02.81.

King's will be idle until the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships are held February 13-15 at the Wilkes-Barre CYC.
