King's is looking to improve open last season's 13-12 record which was the result of a number of key injuries and illnesses. The team also eyes return to the Freedom Conference playoffs. The Lady Monarchs will get a stiff test from a Neumann squad which won the Colonial State Athletic Conference championship and qualified for the NCAA Division III national tournament. The Knights finished the 2009-10 campaign with a 21-6 record, including a 79-70 win over King's a year ago.

The Lady Monarchs will be guided by junior small forward Paige Carlin and junior point-guard Brittany Muscatell. Carlin was named a second-team All-Freedom Conference choice last season after leading the team with 11.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per-game. Muscatell, meanwhile, missed the last five games of the season with a foot injury and averaged 7.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.8 assists.

Also returning is sophomore guard Katlin Michaels who suffered a torn ACL in the eighth game and was lost for the rest of the season. Prior to her injury Michaels had posted 10.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. Another key returnee is sophomore combination guard Celia Rader, who averaged 9.2 points with 18 three-pointers in 14 total games, missing 11 games with a variety of illnesses and injuries.

Sophomore 6-foot forward Lindsay Atchison also returns after averaging 4.9 points and 4.4 rebounds and started 17-of-25 games. Junior guard Abby Malloy started 20 games and posted 3.9 points and 2.1 rebound. Junior guard Nina Magan missed seven games battling a shoulder injury that required off-season surgery but managed to contribute 2.6 points with 13 three-pointers coming off the bench.

The top inside returnee is 5-10 sophomore Molly Dahl who saw action in all 25 games off the bench and averaged 2.6 points and 2.2 rebounds. One newcomer figures to make a big impact as junior Samantha Simcox  joins the Lady Monarchs after transferring from cross-town rival Wilkes University. The 5-8 Simcox averaged 9.6 points and 8.2 rebounds as a freshman, her only season at Wilkes, and enjoyed her best game against King's when she scored a career-high 28 points in 2008-09.

Neumann is led by the return of 5-10 senior forward Kieran Young who averaged 8.3 points and 9.3 rebounds. Sophomore guard-forward Bethany Humenick followed with  6.3 points and 3.9 rebounds. Senior guard Krista DiRomualdo added 6.3 points and 6.1 rebounds while  6-foot junior forward Sami Borcky chipped in with 6.0 points and 5.7 rebounds. The Knights will enter the 2010-11 season without graduated all-American forward Brittany Whetts ho averaged 20.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per-game.

King's will then return to the court Saturday and Sunday at the Susquehanna University Invitational. The Lady Monarchs face Pitt-Bradford Saturday at 7:00 p.m, in the opening round. King's will then travel to face the University Scranton on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
