KING'S WOMEN'S LACROSSE DROPS 19-3 DECISION AT ELIZABETHTOWN
WILKES-BARRE -- Kara Solesky scored three goals and Sarah Cullinan added two goals and five assists to lead Elizabethtown College to a 19-3 Middle Atlantic Conference win over visiting King's College Saturday afternoon at the Manheim Township Recreation Complex.
King's slips to 3-8 overall and 2-7 in MAC play, while Elizabethtown improves its overall mark to 10-2 and remain perfect at 8-0 in conference matches.
After Elizabethtown scored the games first two goals, King's Sarah O'Doherty found the back of the net on a man-up opportunity off an assist from Chelsea Manes with 25:24 on the clock. Seven minutes later, O'Doherty notched her second of the game off a free position tying the score, 2-2.
The host Blue Jays then rallied to score the next seven goals to break open the contest at the half, 9-2.
Elizabethtown extended their lead with nine straight tallies in the second frame before a Manes' goal made the score 18-3 with just over two minutes to play.
Elizabethtown held a commanding 42-11 shot advantage, while collecting 34 ground balls to King's 22. Lady Monarch goalie Megan Withrow finished with 10 saves in net for King's. Rachael Waldman made six saves to record the win for the Blue Jays.
King's returns home Monday for a non-conference match against Lancaster Bible College at 4:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
