KING'S WOMEN'S LACROSSE SUFFERS 18-7 SETBACK AGAINST EASTERN
WILKES-BARRE -- Christy Hild scored five goals and assisted on three others to lead visiting Eastern University to an 18-7 victory over King's College Sunday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.
With the loss King's slips to 2-5 overall and 1-4 in MAC play. Eastern improves to 2-4 overall and evens its league mark at 2-2.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after goals from Kendall Rood and Amelia McNamara in the games first nine minutes of play. King's answered with goals from Teraya Overton and Sarah O'Doherty with assists from Chelsea Manes to tie the game at 2-2 with 19:01 left in the half. After two more Eastern tallies, the Lady Monarchs tied the game for the second time at 4-4 with unassisted goals from Krystina Villarreal and Amanda Harney with 10:32 remaining. From there Eastern rallied for eight straight goals to take a 12-4 lead to the break.
Eastern then outscored King's in the second frame 6-3 to seal the conference win. Villarreal notched her second and third goals of the contest, while O'Doherty posted her second tally in the second half.
Eastern held a commanding 41-13 shot advantage, while garnering 22 ground balls to King's 18.
King's will return to action Wednesday when they host Misericordia University at 4:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
