King's Women's Laxers Score Win Over Lycoming
Wilkes-Barre, Pa.-- The King's College women's lacrosse team used an explosive first half including six goals from
Amanda Harney to knock off Lyoming 23-14 Tuesday night at King's McCarthy Stadium.
The Monarchs improved to 8-5 behind the strength of 17 goals in the first half. In additon to the six from Harney
Chelsea Manes found the back of the net five times in the first period. The Warriors (3-10) were able to score eight times to set the halftime score at 17-8.
The offenses slowed in the second half Lycoming was able to close the gap 19-13 on a Maureen Heagy goal, but King's responded with four of the next five goals to set the final.
Manes led the way for the Lady Monarchs with nine points on seven goals and two assists. Harney chipped in six goals and a helper for seven points and now has the fourth highest single seson goal total with 48.
Mariah Masciarelli and
Catherine McMahon each tallied three goal and one assist.
Brooke Stausser and Amber Graybill each scored four goals to lead the way for Lycoming. Casey Maguire also tallied four points on three goals and one helper.
Megan Withrow improved to 8-5 between the pipes making nine saves and scooping up one groundball. Kristina maurer took the loss in net for Lycoming making six saves.
The Lady Monarchs travel to Gwyneed-Mercy for a non-conference tilt slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
