KING'S WOMEN'S LAXERS FALL TO GWYNEDD-MERCY

GWYNEDD-VALLEY -- Morgan Hosler and Jenna D'Arcy combined for seven goals and six assists to power the host Gwynedd-Mercy women's lacrosse team to a 22-12 victory over visiting King's College Thursday night in Gwynedd-Valley.

With the win, Gwynedd-Mercy improved to 7-6 while King's slipped to 8-6.

King's, playing man-down for the entire game due to injuries, trailed 3-2 with 14:57 remaining in the first half after goals by Krystina Villarreal and Amanda Harney. But the Griffins outscored King's 11-2 the rest of the way to take a 14-4 lead into the halftime break.

King's was unable to dig itself out of the hole but managed to play to a 8-8 draw over the final 30 minutes of play.

Chelsea Manes topped King's with six goals and one assist while Krystina Villarreal added three goals. King's leading scorer Amanda Harney (48 goals) was held to just one goal in the game. Emily Foley and Mariah Masciarelli also scored one goal apiece. Megan Withrow made eight saves in goal.

Gwynedd outshot King's 38-24 and held a 19-11 advantage in ground balls. King's held a 20-16 edge in draw controls.

King's returns to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. home matchup with Manhattanville College at McCarthy Stadium.
