Chelsea Manes and Mariah Masciarelli Tie School Record with 10 points as King's Women's Laxers Defeat Manhattanville
Wilkes-Barre, Pa.--
Chelsea Manes and
Mariah Masciarelli tied the King's single-game scoring record with 10 points to lead the Lady Monarchs to decisive 23-13 victory over visiting Manhattanville Saturday afternoon in Freedom Conference action at McCarthy Stadium.
After allowing the Valiants (3-10, 2-2 Freedom) to score the first goal King's (9-6, 3-1) tallied nine unanswered goals to go up 9-1. Manhattanville tallied four of the next five goals to cut the deficit to 10-5. King's went to the half up 13-6.
The Lady Monarchs came out hot in the second half netting the first three goals out of the break. The Valiants made a push late scoring four of the last five goals to set the final.
Manes netted six goals and four assists while Mascarelli found the back of the net four times and dished out six assists.
Krystina Villarreal added six points on four goals and a pair of assists.
Emily Foley chipped in four goals and
Amanda Harney added three goals.
Casandra Honovich paced the Valiant offense with five goals and one assist for six points while Maggie Howley tallied four goals.
Megan Withrow improved to 9-6 between the pipes with nine saves. Emy Cote took the loss making 10 stops.
The Lady Monarchs continue Freedom Conference play when they host cross-town rival Wilkes at McCarthy Stadium at 4:30 p.m.
