King's Women's Lacrosse Takes on FDU on Saturday for Top Spot in the Freedom Conference
Madison, N.J.-- The King's College women's lacrosse team travels to FDU-Florham on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with the winner claiming the top spot in the Freedom Conference playoffs and home field advantage throughout.
King's stands at 10-6 overall and 4-1 in the Freedom after defeating Wilkes 22-14 to claim their first postseason berth since 2006. The Devils are coming off a 18-13 win over Manhattanville to move to 10-6 and 5-0 in the conference.
With a win the Lady Monarchs take the top spot in the conference and will play either Misericordia or Manhattanville in the opening round. A loss would put the Lady Monarchs at 4-2in the league and in a tie with Eastern. The Eagles hold the head to head tiebreaker leaving King's in the third seed. In that case the Lady Monarchs would open the playoffs at Eastern.
Chelsea Manes leads the King's offense with 62 goals and 24 assists for a total of 86 points.
Amanda Harney has picked up 79 points on 59 goals and 20 helpers.
Krystina Villarreal has chipped in 46 goals and 14 assists for 60 points.
