KING'S WOMEN DOWN EASTERN AS RADER REACHES 1,000TH POINT, MICHAELS DOUBLE-DOUBLE

Celia Rader scored the 1,000th point of her career and fellow senior guard Kaitlin Michaels nearly had a triple double as the King's College women's basketball team posted a 71-60 victory over visiting Eastern University Wednesday night in Scandlon Gymnasium.
With the win, the Lady Monarchs improved to 15-5 overall and 7-2 in Freedom Conference play. Eastern, meanwhile, slipped to 8-12 and 4-5..
King's came out of the gates quickly with a 6-0 run on buckets by Rader, Michaels, and Jen Fabian. After an Eastern bucket, the Lady Monarchs countered with a 9-2 surge to build a 15-4 advantage with 10:58 left in the half after five straight points from
Molly Dahl.
After Easter closed to within 18-11, King's again responded with a 16-7 run to push the score to 34-18 when reached the 1,000-point plateau on a three-pointer with 3:27 on the clock. After an Eastern bucket, the Lady Monarchs closed out the half with a 8-0 run to take a 42-21 lead at the break
In the second half King's maintained a comfortable lead, holding a 53-33 advantage with 11:37 on the clock after five straight points from Michaels. With the Lady Monarchs continuing to hold on to a 60-42 lead with 7:03 left to play, eastern made the game interesting, eventually trimming the lead to 63-54 with 1:43 to go. But King's pushed the lead back to 12 points twice in the final minute to walk away with the victory.
Michaels, who became the first King's player to record a triple-double earlier in the season, nearly turned the trick again. She finished the game with 26 points, 11 assists, and nine rebounds while chipping in with four steals. Dahl tallied a career-high 19 points while
Lindsay Atchison added nine points and seven rebounds. Rader also finished with nine points while Jen Fabian contributed eight points and 10 boards.
Eastern, which played without injured leading scorer Megan Nowak, was led by Kaitlyn Dougherty with 21 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Gina DiDomenico added 18.
King's returns to th court Saturday when the Lady Monarchs host Freedom Conference frontrunner FDU-Florham at 1:oo p.m. In Scandlon Gym.
