King's Bevevino Wins MAC Singles Title, Three Monarchs 2nd in Singles, One Team 2nd in Doubles

KING'S BEVEVINO WINS MAC SINGLES TITLE, THREE SINGLES, ONE DOUBLES TEAM FINISH SECOND

WILKES-BARRE – The King's College men's tennis team concluded a highly successful Middle Atlantic Conference Tournament as the Monarchs crowned Tony Bevevino as a singles champion in the number-three flight. In addition, three other King's singles players finished second while the Monarchs also had one runner-up doubles team.

After winning two matches Saturday to reach Saturday's semi-final, King's top-seeded Bevevino reached the title match with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over third-seeded Alex Makos of Wilkes. The Monarch senior then claimed his first MAC title with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Jacob Parfianowicz of Wilkes.

In the number-one singles flight, King's second-seeded George Parkhurst reached the finals with a 6-2, 6-2 win over third-seeded Max Apello in Sunday morning's semi-finals. In the finals he fell to top-seeded Steven Wilson of Wilkes 6-1, 6-1 to finish second in the event.
 
King's had another second-place finish at fourth-singles as where top-seeded Monarch senior Jake Rohring reached the finals with a 6-4, 6-0 over Troy Haas of Elizabethtown, then fell to second-seeded Connor Peckham of Wilkes 6-4, 6-1 in the championship.

In the number-five singles flight, King's second-seeded Chris DiMino also placed second. He won his semi-final match 6-0, 6-4 over Brent Greco of Lebanon Valley. He then dropped a 6-2, 6-2 verdict in the finals to top-seeded Brendon Blachowski of Wilkes.

In doubles, King's second-seeded team of Parkhurst and Brand placed second in the event. The pair reached the finals with an 8-3 semi-final triumph over third-seeded Dan Minnich and Dennis Sult of Alvernia. In the finals they fell to top-seeded Dominic and Jacob Parfianowicz of Wilkes by a 8-6 count.

At second singles, King's top-seeded Stephen Brand fell in the semi-finals to Michael Krantz of Wilkes in a 6-4, 0-6, 10-7 marathon.

At number-six singles, King's unseeded Andrew Panzitta reached the semi-finals where he fell to top-seeded Adam Lefkandinos of Wilkes 6-1, 6-1.
 
At number-seven singles, King's Ryan Hegarty also fell in the semi-finals with a 6-1, 6-4 loss to Dan Hackford of Wilkes in the semi-finals.

In the number-two doubles flight, King's second-seeded team of Bevevino and Rohring also reached the semi-finals where they dropped a 9-8 decision to third-seeded Max Appello and Adam Lefkandinos of Wilkes.
 
At third doubles the Monarchs' third-seeded tandem of DiMino and Panzitta advanced to the semi-finals before falling 8-1 to Wilkes' Dan Hackford and Connor Peckham.

In the fourth doubles slot King's team of Brandon Franklin and Tyler Tuck reached the semi-finals before falling 8-0 to Dennis Gliem and Colin Strunk of Wilkes.

With the conclusion of their Fall campaign, King's will be idle until making its Spring Break Trip to Orlando, Fla. February 27-to-March 7.
