KING'S WOMEN PICK UP IMPORTANT ROAD WIN OVER DELAWARE VALLEY, 61-54

Katlin Michaels scored 12 of the last 16 points of the game for visiting King's College as the Lady Monarchs overcame a four-point deficit over the final 5:14 of the game as the Lady Monarchs picked up an important 61-54 road victory Wednesday in Doylestown.
With the win, the Lady Monarchs improved to 17-5 overall and 9-2 in the Freedom Conference while the Aggies fell to 9-13 and 3-8 in league play. The Lady Monarchs also remained one game behind first-place FDU-Florham with three games remaining. The Devils routed host Wilkes University 73-36 to improve to 10-1 in Freedom play.
The game was closely contested throughout as neither team led by more than five points. The Lady Monarchs trailed 23-21 with 5:42 left in the opening stanza but outscored the Aggies 5-0 the rest of the way to forge a 26-23 at the break.
In the second half the game remained close as the Aggies took their first lead of the second stanza with 13:23 remaining on a short jumper from Emily Soper. Delaware Valley maintained the lead until the 8:17 mark when
Jennifer Fabian made one-of—two doul shots to put King's on top 43-42. After three lead changes, the Aggies took a 48-45 lead following two free throws from Shannon Barlow with 6:28 on te clock.
But from there, King's senior guard
Katlin Michaels took over and scored seven straight points for King's before
Lindsay Atchison added a driving lay-up to put the Lady Monarchs ahead 54-51 with 2:36 remaining. After the Aggies trimmed the lead to 54-53 with 2:12 left, Michaels scored on a lay-up, then followed up with one-of-two foul shots on King's next possession to push the score to 57-53 at the 0:41 mark. King's closed out the game with four straight foul shots, two from
Molly Dahl, and the final two coming from Michaels with 0:06 on the clock to seal the victory.
Michaels finished the game with 18 points, 12 coming over the final six minutes, while adding eight rebounds and six assists. She also moved to with 36 points of reaching the 1,000-point plateau.
Celia Rader added 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists, including three three-pointers while
Jennifer Fabian posted her second straight double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. Dahl tallied a double-double of her own with 10 points and 10 rebounds while
Lindsay Atchison chipped in with six points and seven boards.
Delaware Valley was paced by Emily Soper with 16 points and nine rebounds while Eireanna Anastasi added 14 points, eight rebounds, and 10 assists.
King's hits the road again on Saturday when the Lady Monarchs travel to Purchase, NY to face Manhattanville College at 1:00 p.m.
