King's Women's Lacrosse Earn 17-7 Victory Over Eastern

Wilkes-Barre, Pa.-- The King's College women's lacrosse team picked up its second straight conference win with a 17-7 win over visiting Eastern Saturday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.

With the victory the Lady Monarchs improved to 5-7 on the season and 2-1 in Freedom Conference play. The Eagles fell to 0-11, 0-3 in league play.

King's came out early taking a 5-1 advantage after an unassisted tally from Emily Foley at the 21:37 mark in the first half. Victoria Graham answered making the score 6-2 with 20:56 left in the first, but the Lady Monarchs scored the next six of the next seven goals to push the lead to 12-4 at the half.

The teams traded goals to open the second half, before King's netted three straight markers to go up 16-5 with 17:14 to play. Amanda Harney scored at the 5:07 mark to extend the lead to 17-6 and a Shannon Wilcox goal with 14 seconds to play set the final.

Foley paced the King's offense with six points on four goals and two helpers. Harney chipped up five points on three goals and two assists. Chelsea Manes and Krystina Villarreal each netted four points on three goals and one helper. Catherine McMahon added a pair of goals as did Mariah Masciarelli.

Sara Balylock was the top performer for the Eagles scoring four goals. Graham added a pair of goals and one assist for three points.

Alisa Marino picked up the win in the cage for King's making 10 saves. It was the seventh time this season she reached double figures in saves. Cortney Andes took the loss in net for the Eagles despite making 18 saves.

The Lady Monarchs will play their final non-conference game on Thursday when they host Gwynedd-Mercy at McCarthy Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
