King's Women's Laxers Drop Freedom Conference Opener to Arcadia 18-11

Glenside, Pa. -- The King's College women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-11 decision to Arcadia in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams Saturday afternoon.

The game was tight early with King's holding a 3-2 edge after an Emily Foley goal. The Knights scored the next two goals to go up 4-3 15:49 to play in the first half. Mariah Masciarelli tied the game  at the 14:52 mark with an unassisted marker of her own.

Arcadia scored the next seven goals capped by a free-position goal from Haylee Molloy to take an 11-4 lead with 2:32 to play in the first half. The Lady Monarchs were able to get three back before the break with Krystina Villarreal, Masciarelli and Amanda Harney scoring to cut the lead to 11-7.

Molloy stretched the lead with a pair of goals to open the second half and Jacly Feffer added a tally at the 24:05 mark to push the Arcadia lead out to 14-7. Harney scored a pair of goals just 54 seconds apart to bring the lead back to 14-9, but King's wasn't able to get any closer.

The Lady Monarchs played a player down against the Knights missing their third leading scorer Chelsea Manes. Harney, Masciarelli and Villarreal each tallied four points on the day for King's.

The Knight's offense was paced by nine points from Molloy on seven goals and two assists. Dawn Faranetta chipped in five goals and one helper.

Alisa Marino took the loss for King's making a pair of saves. Jordyn Dunacusky scored the win making two saves before being replaced by Deanna Thompson in the second half.

The Lady Monarchs return home on Wednesday when they host Misericordia in a Freedom Conference matchup. The 4:00 p.m. game will be the first home contest since March 14.
