King's Women's Cagers Defeat Rutgers-Camden 79-68, Manning Earns Spot on All-Tournament Team

KING'S WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DOWN RUTGERS-CAMDEN 79-68 IN NEUMANN TOURNEY CONSOLATION

ASTON -- Senior Marissa Manning posted her second double-double in as many days and the King's College women's basketball team had four players score 14 or more points as the Lady Monarchs earned a 79-68 victory over Rutgers-Camden University in the consolation game of the Neumann University Tip-Off Tournament Sunday in Aston.

With the win King's improved to 1-1 on the year while the Scarlet Raptors fell to 0-2.

King's took a 34-31 lead into the halftime break. After Rutgers-Camden came out of the locker room and scored the first bucket of the final frame to cut the score to 34-33, King's responded with a decisive 11-0 run. Kasey Seitz scored seven points in the surge, hitting a three-pointer and making four free throws while Kayla Feairheller added a lay-up and Shae Grim made two from the charity stripe as King's built a 45-33 lead with 16:04 left in the contest.

Rutgers-Camden whittled away at the King's lead and came to within 50-45 with 11:42 to play but King's used seven straight points from Manning to recapture the momentum.

King's built its biggest lead of the game at 17 points when a jumper by Feairheller put the Lady Monarchs ahead 72-56 with 2:52 left in the contest.
Manning led King's with 19 points and 11 rebounds, including six offensive boards. After tallying 21 points and 10 rebounds in Saturday's opening game, Manning earned a spot on the all-tournament team.

Feairheller followed with 17 points, eight rebounds, and three assists while Tara Zdancewicz added 15 points and four boards. Seitz contrinbuted 14 points, four rebounds, and two assists while Grim posted seven points and two assists. Olivia Hoffman also had a solid game with six points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots.

King's was rewarded for its aggressive play in the paint, going 28-of-39 from the foul line. The Lady Monarchs also forced 18 Scarlet Raptor turnovers while committing only 11.

The Lady Monarchs will make their home debut Wednesday with a 6:00 p.m. matchup against Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
