DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPION FDU WOMEN USE LATE FIRST-HALF SURGE TO DOWN KING'S

MADISON, NJ -- The King's College women's basketball team built a 23-22 lead with 7:24 left in the first half over defending NCAA Division III national champion FDU-Florham. But over the final 7:14 the Devils exploded with a decisive 20-5 run, en route to posting a 83-56 victory over the Lady Monarchs Saturday in Madison, NJ.

Ranked number-one nationally in the latest Division III poll, the Devils improved to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the Freedom Conference. King's, meanwhile, slipped to 3-4 and 1-1 in league games.

King's jumped out to an 8-3 lead on the strength of three-pointers by Kasey Seitz and Kayla Feairheller, along with a pair of free throws from Jennifer Fabian. The Lady Monarchs built a 10-5 lead on a Feairheller lay-up with 15:15 left in the opening half.

The Devils took their first lead of the game when a Delisha Thompson lay-up capped a 6-0 spurt and gave FDU a 11-10 at the 13:41 mark. King's would recapture the lead when a Fabian inside bucket put the Lady Monarchs on top 14-13 with 12:50  on the clock.

King's battled back to take a 23-22 lead on a driving lay-up from Feairheller with 7:24 left in the opening half but FDU would respond.

Leigh-Ann Lively delivered a three-pointer that ignited the Devils offensively but FDU also turned up the defensive pressure forcing five King's turnover over the final seven minutes of the half.

King's failed to score from the 3:55 mark as FDU went on a 11-0 run to build a 43-25 lead before Sarah Krupinski ended the scoreless string for King's on a jumper with 0:07 to go in the opening half as FDU took a 43-27 lead into the locker room.
In the second half the Devils came out of the locker room and used a 11-3 spurt to push the lead to 54-30 after an Alyssa McDonough layup with 14:55 to play. King's would draw no closer than 21 points the rest of the way as the Devils its win streak to 40  games.

Feairheller led King's with 16 points and two rebounds. Fabian followed with nine points and seven rebounds while Olivia Hoffman added eight points and seven boards. The Lady Monarchs, however, committed 30 turnovers in the game.
McDonough led FDU with 16 points while Alicia Cox added 13. Shalette Brown followed with eight points and 13 rebounds.

King's will now be idle until New Year's Even when the Lady Monarchs travel to face NCAA Division I University of Pennsylvania, the defending Ivy League champions, at 1:00 p.m. at The Palestra in Philadelphia.
