King's Women Fall at Del-Valley 63-56, Eliminated from Playoff Hunt

KING'S WOMEN FALL AT DELAWARE VALLEY 63-56, ELIMINATED FROM FREEDOM CONFERENCE PLAYOFF CONTENTION

DOYLESTOWN -- The King's College women's basketball team saw its quest for a Freedom Conference Tournament berth come to an end Tuesday night as the Lady Monarchs dropped a 63-56 to host Delaware Valley College in James Work Memorial Gym.

With the win Delaware Valley improved to 13-11 and 8-5 in the Freedom Conference clinching the fourth and final league playoff berth. King's, meanwhile, slipped to 10-14 and 6-7 in conference play.

King's jumped out to a 7-1 lead thanks to a pair of three-pointers from Kasey Seitz. The Lady Monarchs then upped the lead to 11-5 after one-of-two foul shots form Shae Grim with 13:34 left in the first half.  the Aggies countered with a 8-0 run and took a 13-11 advantage with 11:14 on the clock. After Olivia Hoffman one-of-two free throws brought King's to within 13-12 at the 10:47 mark, the Lady Monarchs went cold and scored just 11 points the rest of the way as the Aggies took a 29-223 lead into the halftime break.

Delaware Valley came out in the second half and forged ahead 39-26 after an Eireann Anastasi jumper with 16:01 to go.  King's, however, responded with a 18-5 run and took a 46-44 lead after six straight points from Seitz, including a three-pointer with 9:21 remaining.

But the Aggies answered thanks to a trio of three-pointers by Kelsey Kilpatrick as Delaware Valley built a 59-48 lead with 4:12 on the clock. King's would get no closer than six points on two occasions the rest of the way as the Aggies walked away with the victory while clinching the final Freedom Conference playoff berth. 

Seitz led King's with 18 points, including 5-of-9 from three-point range. Jennifer Fabian added 17 points and eight boards as the only Lady Monarchs to reach double-digits.  King's shot 37.5 (18-48) from the field but were at 47.4 (9-of-19 from three-point range. But 18 turnovers, compared to just nine for the Aggies, led to a 25-6 advantage in points off turnovers for the Aggies.

Anastasi posted a game-high 23 points while  Kilpatrick finished with 15 points , going 5-for-5 from three-point range.

King's will close out its season on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. home matchup with crosstown rival Wilkes on Senior Day.
