WILKES-BARRE -- The visiting Alvernia University women's lacrosse team overcame a  3-2 first-half deficit to score 15 unanswered goals as the Crusaders posted a 19-4 win over host King's College Saturday at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win Alvernia improved to 2-2 while King's slipped to 2-4.

King's took a 2-0 lead just 1:21 into the match on goals by Kendra McCoy and Gabriella Morrocu. After Abby McCarthy cut the lead to 2-1, King's countered with a Sarah Almony goal to build a 3-1 lead with 26:39 left in the half.

But Alvernia exploded to score the final nine goals of the half, with three coming from Angel Adams, to give the Crusaders a 13-4 lead at the break.

Alvernia maintained control in the second half by maintaining possession as the Crusaders won six of the seven draws taken. With King's only able to manage possession on a few occasions, the Crusaders outscored King's 6-0 during the second half to walk away with the win.

Schurgot, McCoy, Almony, and Morrocu each had one goal for King's while Morrocu added the team's lone assist. Victoria Zawacki made four saves for the Monarchs.

Adams and Jackie Strange led Alvernia with five goals and two assists apiece while Julie Sutton had three goals and two assists.
