KING'S WOMEN'S LACROSSE REGISTERS 15-2  WIN OVER MOUNT SAINT VINCENT

RIVERDALE, NY -- Anastasia Araviakis and Gabriella Morrocu combined for nine goals as the King's College women's lacrosse team posted a 15-4 victory over host College of Mount Saint Vincent Wednesday  in Riverdale, NY.

With the win King's improved to 3-4 while Mount Saint Vincent fell to 1-3.

King's opened up a 6-0 lead on the strength of three goals from Araviakis, two by Morrocu and a score from Kendra McCoy. After the hosts reached the scoreboard, Morrocu tallied her third goal to give the Lady Monarchs a 7-1 lead. Mount Saint Vincent added a goal with 0:08 on the clock to enter the halftime break trailing 7-2.

In the second stanza King's put the game away with a seven goal barrage. Araviakis scored the first two of the half while Sarah Almony added two more. to push the lead to 12-2.  Hayley Greenwood then reached the scoreboard for King's before Breanna Schurgot made it a 14-2 lead with 11:35 to play. 

After the Dolphins scored to bring the game to 14-3, with 10:25 left, Schurgot scored her second goal with 1:21 on the clock to give King's a 15-3 lead.  Mount Saint Vincent scored the game's final goal with 0:30 to go to set the final score. 

Araviakis paced King's with five goals, one assist, and five ground balls while Morrocu added four scores and two ground balls. Schurgot tallied two goals, one assist and three ground balls while Almony finished with two scores. McCoy contributed one goal and a team-high seven ground balls while Greenwood garnered one goal and two caused turnovers. 

Juliette Mortimer, Erin Dempsey, and Megan O'Brien chipped in with three ground balls apiece. King's goalie Victoria Zawacki posted four saves in goal.

Gabby Bravo led the Dolphins with two goals while Kacie McCormack posted 15 saves. 
The Lady Monarchs also forced 27 turnovers in the game.

King's outshot the Dolphins 37-10 and owned a 33-19 ground ball advantage.
 
King's returns to action Sunday with a 2:00 p.m. game at Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, NY The game was orginally scheduled for Saturday but changed due to weather reasons.
