KING'S WOMEN LACROSSE EARNS 15-9 VICTORY OVER CAZENOVIACAZENOVIA, N.Y. ---
Anastasia Araviakis and
Sarah Almony had four goals each to lead the King's College women's lacrosse team to a 15-9 victory over host Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, N.Y. on Sunday afternoon.
With the win King's finishes the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 4-4 record while Cazenovia falls to 2-4 with the loss.
The Lady Monarchs got on the board first when Araviakis scored on a free position shot just two and a half minutes into the game. The teams would trade goals until Cazenovia took their only lead of the game with a goal with 4:31 left in the first half. King's would respond with three straight goals to take a 6-4 lead into halftime.
In the second half the Wildcats scored first to cut the lead to 6-5 but four straight goals by the Monarchs gave King's a 10-5 advantage. Cazenovia responded with three straight goals before King's put the game away with five straight goals, three by
Kendra McCoy. The Monarchs outshot the Wildcats 35-20 and won 17 of the 26 draw controls.
The Monarchs were led by
Anastasia Araviakis with four goals and two assists while
Sarah Almony also had four goals.
Gabriella Morrocu posted three goals and two assists while
Kendra McCoy added three goals.
Hayley Greenwood had one goal and
Juliette Mortimer and
Megan Heintzelman had an assist each.
Victoria Zawacki got the win in goal making eight saves.
The Wildcats were led by Kaitlin Sheppard with five goals and two assists. Daejah Werntz added two goals while Hannah Delaware and Tracy Johnston had a goal each. Abigail Kortz got the loss in goal making 13 saves.
King's will next be in action when they welcome Eastern University to McCarthy Stadium to open up Freedom Conference play on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
