KING'S SWIMMERS OPEN 2016-17 SEASON WITH CLOSE LOSSES TO DREW

MADISON, NJ — The King's College women's and men's swim teams opened the 2016-17 seasons losing two close matches against host Drew University Saturday in Madison, NJ. The King's women fell by a score of 106-88 while the men dropped a 105.5-91.5 verdict.
Despite the losses, King's swam well and compiled a number of early-season times.
In the women's 200 breaststroke, freshman
Kirsten Siwy set a new school-record in her first-ever collegiate meet with a time of 2:29.57. She also won the 200-individual medley at 2:17.48 .
In the women's 1000-freestyle,
Katie Fitch was second with a time of 11:45.24. She was also second in the 500-freestyle at 5:45.81. In the 50-freestyle,
Brigid Wynn was second with a 27.80. In the 200-butterfly,
Lauren Pham touched second at 2:33.60. King's 200-freestyle relay team of Wynn, Fitch, Jacqueline Molnar, and
Kailie Karensky were winners with a 1:54.79.
King's sophomore transfer Dan Weeks set two new school records in his King's debut. In the men's 50-freestyle, Weeks was victorious with a time of 21.84. He also finished first in the 100-freestyle at 48.75.
In the 500-freestyle,
Bryce Groshardt was victorious with a time of 5:01.09. He was second in the 200-individual medley at 2:03.85. In the men's 1000-freestyle,
Chris Soutter was second with a time of 11:01.19. In the 200-freestyle, Chris Dionne finished second with a 1:54.92
In the 200-butterfly, Nate Dubbs was second at 2:15.22 while
John Kwasizur was second in the 200-backstroke with a 2:16.22.
Aaron Griffith touched second in the 200-breaststroke with a 2:28.73. King's 200-freestyle relay team of
Rhyce Hammaker,
Randill DeAsis, Dionne, and Weeks were winners with a time of 1:30.83
