KING'S WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO LYCOMING, 20-13
WILKES-BARRE -- Jordan Lazarich, Kelly McGinnis, and Savannah Fox scored five goals each to power the unbeaten Lycoming College women's lacrosse team to a 20-13 victory over host King's College Wednesday at McCarthy Stadium.
With the win Lycoming improved to 6-0 while King's slipped to 2-3. Lycoming built a 15-5 lead at the half thanks to four goals by Lazarich and three each from Fox and McGinniss.
King's fell behind 3-0 before suffering a major blow when leading scorer and returning All-Region selection Anastasia Araviakis picked up her second yellow card of the game and was ejected just 4:55 into the contest. The Warriors then netted four straight goals to go ahead 7-1 and King's would come no closer than five goals the rest of the half.
Gabrielle Morrocu did her best to pick up the slack, scoring a career-high seven goals for King's,equaling the second-highest single-game total in program history. Amanda Carroll scored four goals and added an assist while Sarah Almony netted two goals for the Lady Monarchs.
Lycoming was able to control possession much of the game after owning a 24-11 advantage in draws. The Warriors outshot King's 40-19 in the contest.
King's goalie Victoria Zawacki played the first half and made 11 saves. Courtney Stefanik played the second half and posted two stops.
King's returns home Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. matchup against SUNY-Canton.
