King's Lady Laxers Fall Short in Comeback vs. Ramapo

KING'S WOMEN'S LAXERS COMEBACK BID COMES UP SHORT IN 19-16 LOSS TO RAMAPO

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's lacrosse trailed 13-6 at the half and saw its comeback bid fall short as the Lady Monarchs dropped a 19-16 decison to visiting Ramapo College Wednesday at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win Ramapo improved to 3-3 while King's slipped to 2-5.

The Roadrunners jumped out to a quick start, building a 7-1 lead midway through the first half.  King's began to match Ramapo's scoring and went into the locker room down 13-6.

In the second half King's scored five of the next seven goals to trim the lead to 15-11 with 22:21 to play on a goal by Amanda Carroll. The Lady Monarchs then used a 4-3 spurt to trim the lead to 18-16 with 7:48 to play on three straight goals from Hayley Greenwood, Megan O'Brien, and Gabriella Morrocu. 

Ramapo scored an insurance goal with 3:53 to go and managed to maintain possession for much of the remainder of the game to eat away the clock while holding on to the win.


Morrocu finished the game with four goals and four assists and is now two goals away from reaching the 100-goal plateau for her career. Anastasia Araviakis had three goals and two assists while Sarah Almony added four goals. Carroll chipped in with three goals and one assist. King's goalie Victoria Zawacki had nine saves.

Lindsay Hughes led Ramapo with eight goals an two assists while Victoria Cunningham added four scores.

King's will be off for Easter break until April 2 with a 1:00 p.m. home game against Kean University.
