KING'S WOMEN'S LAXERS DROP FREED CONFERENCE OPENER AT FDU-FLORHAM
MADISON, NJ --Joel Manganella score four goals and handed out three assists to power the host FDU-Florham women's lacrosse team to a 11-3 victory over King's College in the Freedom Conference opener Saturday in Madison, NJ.
With the win, FDU improved to 5-7 while King's slipped to 2-8.
FDU built a 7-1 first half lead on the strength of four goals by Manganello. King's lone goal of the opening stanza came from Sarah Almony off an assist by Gabriella Morrocu.
The Devils added four second-half goals to built a 10-1 advantage. King's converted their final two goals of the game when Morrocu scored unassisted with 2:59 left in the contest. She then scored the 100th goal of her career with just 0:01 on the clock to reach the coveted milestone.
FDU outshot King's 35-8 and held a 36-27 advantage in ground balls. The Devils also won 9-of-14 draws and caused 20 King's turnovers.
Victoria Zawacki made 11 saves in goal for the Lady Monarchs.
King's will return to the field Wednesday with a 5:00 p.m. home matchup against Delaware Valley College.
