KING'S FERNANDEZ FINISHES SECOND AT MAC TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

FINAL BRACKETS

WILKES-BARRE -- King's College freshman Emily Fernandez continues to have a strong rookie year as the Lady Monarchs placed second in the 2017 Middle Atlantic Conference Tennis Championships concluding Sunday at Kirby Park.  Fernandez played in the number-one singles flight.

After a first-round bye and a quarterfinal victory on Saturday, the second-seeded Fernandez posted a 6-1, 6-2 semi-final win over Nicole Del Rosso of FDU-Florham Sunday morning.

In the finals, however, Fernandez dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to defending MAC champion Jordan Vasarkovsky of Wilkes. With the loss, Fernandez stands at 6-1 in singles on the year.

King's had one other player reach the semi-finals. Junior Thea Seasock won two matches on Saturday, but dropped a heartbreaking  6-3, 7-5, 10-5 decision to Gabby Serratore of DeSales.

The tournament marked King's final event of the first semester. The team will be idle until its Spring Break Trip to Florida in March.
