King's Women's Lacrosse Earns Important 15-9 Conference Win Over Delaware Valley

KING'S WOMEN'S LAXERS REGISTER 15-9 VICTORY OVER DELAWARE VALLEY 

DOYLESTOWN -- Gabriella Morrocu, Anatastia Araviakis, and Kendra McCoy combined for 12 goals to power the King's College women's lacrosse team to a 15-9 victory over host Delaware Valley University Thursday in Doylestown.

With the win King's improved to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in MAC Freedom Conference play. The Aggies, meanwhile, fell to 7-3 and 1-2 in league competition.

King's took an early 2-0 lead just 2:07 into the game when Morrocu and Katy Higinbothom scored. After an Aggie goal, Sarah Almony countered for King's too push the lead to 3-1 with 16:35 to play in the first half. 

After the Aggies cut the lead to 3-2, King's used a pair of goals from Araviakis and another by McCoy to cap a 3-0 run and extend the Lady Monarch advantage to 6-2. 

A furious final minute of the half saw four goals scored as McCoy added two more goals to offset a pair by Delaware Valley as King's took a 8-4 lead into the break.

In the second half Araviakis struck a third time to extend the King's lead to 9-4. But after an Aggie goal, King's went on a 4-0 surge as Amanda Carroll struck net, followed by three straight scores from Morrocu to give the Laady Monarchs a 13-6 lead. Morrocu and Araviakis score once more each as King's walked away with the victory.

Morrocu netted five goals while Araviakas scored four to pace the King's attach. McCoy contributed three goals and two assists while Carroll tallied one goal and one assist. Megan O'Brien posted a team-high six ground balls and caused four turnovers. Victoria Zawacki made 10 saves in goal.

The Lady Monarchs outshot Delaware Valley 34-25 and held a 33-30 advantage in ground balls.

King's will be idle over Eastern break before returning to action Wednesday with a 7:00 PM home matchup against local rival Misericordia University.
