ONEONTA, N.Y. (October 27, 2018) — The men's and women's swim team headed to Oneonta, N.Y. to compete in a double dual against SUNY New Paltz and Hartwick College. The men lost to the Hartwick Hawks 173-84 but were victorious against New Paltz 169-93. The women dropped in both meets finishing 166-95 versus Hartwick and 160.50-95.50 battling New Paltz. The men advance to a 2-1 record while the Lady Monarchs are now 1-2.

The 16 event meet kicked off with the women's 200 medley relay where the Monarchs came in third. The "A" relay team started withÂ

Dan Weekes made up the men's 200 medley relay and also came in third behind Hartwick's "A" and "B" relays.Â

Chris Soutter both came in fourth in their respective 1000 freestyle races.Â

Coe clinched a second place win in the 200 freestyle, coming in about one second later than the first place finisher at 2:04.14. Weekes finished third but was just seconds away from stealing second in the 200 free at 1:53.10. Soutter pulled out a fifth place finish with 1:56.04.Â

Pedersen was able to finish fifth in the 100 backstroke whileÂ
Bryce Groshardt came in second for his race behind Hartwick by just one second.Â

The women's 100 breaststroke was won by SUNY but Siwy came in second place by .20 of a second displaying her championship worthy stroke.Â
Emily Bove finished fifth in the event.Â
Rhyce Hammaker (2) and Boxter (5) placed in the top five for the men's breaststroke

Two Monarchs showed off their skill in the 200 butterfly, Gardner with a tome of 2:22.17 which earned her third andÂ
Thomas Montvydaswith 2:16.76 and a fifth place standing.Â

Weekes and Hammaker placed in the men's 50 freestyle. Weekes grabbed second place just .02 seconds behind the first place finisher and Hammaker fifth at 23.09.

Coe took another second place finish in the 100 freestyle while Groshardt picked up another silver finish as well.Â

In the 19
thevent, the 200 backstroke, Pedersen snagged fifth, almost clinching the fourth spot and Siwy took another first place in her coveted style, the 200 breaststroke. She recorded a time of 2:33.35. Boxter made a time of 2:21.39, good enough for a bronze finish in the men's and Hammaker tallied another fifth place standing  with 2:25.80.

Soutter was the only Monarch to finish in the top five for the 500 freestyle notching a third place swim at 5:09.70.

Gardner (4) and Montvydas (5) held it down for King's in the 100 fly while Siwy came in at the top of the finishers for the 200 individual medley and Groshardt came in first for the men's race followed by Boxter at number three.Â

The last event of the day was the 200 freestyle relay and the women's team picked up fourth and fifth place.Â
