Monarch Women’s Basketball Game Notes – Neumann, Centenary

WILKES-BARRE, PA (November 14, 2018) – The King's College women's basketball team will look to get back over .500 on Saturday afternoon with the first home contest of the 2018-19 season, hosting Neumann University at 3 p.m. in McGrane Gymnasium. The Monarchs are coming off an emphatic win on Tuesday evening over Keystone College, as Alexis Steeber posted 21 points en route to an 87-71 victory on the road. King's will then battle Centenary University Monday evening.

Last Time Out: Senior forward Alexis Steeber tied her season-best with 21 points Tuesday evening, helping the King's College women's basketball team to an 87-71 win over Keystone College in non-conference action from Ace Spaulding Gym.

Steeber posted her 21 points on 10-of-17 shooting, adding four rebounds as well. Junior Rebecca Prociak chalked up 19 points, six rebounds and four assists on 7-of-15 from the floor, while Yori knocked down seven of her 15 shot attempts for 15 points. Dippre added 10 points, five boards and four helpers, and Rajza also posted nine points, five rebounds and two assists.

Dillinger posted six points, six rebounds and three assists, and freshman Emily Kriston chalked up five points and four assists. King's posted 21 assists to just 12 turnovers, as it shot 45.5 percent (35-77) overall. Freshman Erika Freely also scored her first career bucket Tuesday.

A Look At The Monarchs (2-2):
  • Mackenzie Yori currently leads the MAC Freedom in scoring with 19.0 points per game, while teammate Rebecca Prociak is seventh in the league with 16.5 points per game.
  • The trio of Yori, Prociak and Alexis Steeber is the highest trio in the conference, averaging around 50 points per contest.
  • In wins this season, the Monarchs have shot .470 from the field while shooting .308 in losses thus far.
  • The Monarchs have posted more assists than turnovers this season, while chalking up a season-high 21 assists on Tuesday at Keystone.
  • Over the last three games, the Monarchs are averaging 9.3 turnovers per game, the best of any MAC Freedom team during the last week.
  • After allowing teams to shoot nearly 40 percent from three-point land the first three games, the Monarchs held Keystone Tuesday to 14.3 percent (2-14) shooting from behind the arc.
  • The Monarchs have turned the ball only 12 times per game, which is 14th best in the nation out of 435 ranked teams.
  • King's leads the MAC Freedom in free throw percentage, making 73.1 percent from the line.
  • Prociak is 28th in the nation in double-doubles with two this season, while ranking 80th nationally in free throws made with 18.
  • Senior Lindsey Dippre has scored in double-figures in three of four games, including posting 12 against Marywood back on November 17.
  • Freshman Samantha Razja has been a force defensively lately for the Monarchs, as she has pulled in three steals in each of the last three games.
A Look At The Knights (4-1):
  • Neumann started the season 4-0 with wins over Wilkes, Albright, Hood and Western New England before falling to Widener University Tuesday 75-69.
  • The Knights like to shoot it from deep, as Neumann is ranked 12th in the nation in three-pointers made with 41, while ranking 41st in the country in three's made per game with 8.2
  • Neumann is first in the Atlantic East in scoring offense, scoring 75.4 points per game.
  • Neumann is one of just two teams in the Atlantic East with a positive assist to turnover ratio, posting a 1.03 ratio for the season.  
  • Nafisa Saunders is first in the nation in field goal attempts with 118 this season, while ranking first in total points in NCAA Division III with 147.
  • Saunders is second in the country in points per game with 29.4 points per contest.
  • Mariah Maciejewski is first in the conference and 72nd nationally in blocks with seven, posting 1.4 per game.
  • Maia Bryson is first in the Atlantic East in three-point field goal percentage, making 43.5 percent from downtown.
A Look At The Cyclones (0-3):
  • Centenary is coming into Monday's game looking for its first win of the season, falling to Arcadia, Ramapo and St. Elizabeth to start the season.
  • The Cyclones run their offense through the post, as they have taken just 29 three-pointers all season while making just six.
  • Katie Alvarez leads the team offensively, shooting .500 from the field while pouring in 12.0 points per game. She also leads the Cyclones on the boards with 6.7 rebounds per game.
  • Victoria Jacobs has played the most of any CU player, as she is posting 32 minutes a game while posting 6.0 rebounds and 7.3 rebounds.
  • Centenary has out-rebounded all three opponents this season, posting at least 40 rebounds per game.
  • Centenary is second in the conference in field goal percentage defense, allowing teams to shoot just 37 percent from the floor.
  • In addition, the Cyclones are 26th nationally and first in the conference at allowing opposition to make only 19 percent from behind the three-point line.
Against Neumann and Centenary: Dating back to 2008, King's is 1-0 against Centenary with last year's win in Hackettstown, NJ with the score of 71-55. The Monarchs are 3-6 against Neumann University over the last nine seasons, as King's defeated the Knights 70-67 last year.
