King’s Looks to Continue Playoff Push at Misericordia

MONARCHS SIT FOURTH IN THE CONFERENCE

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. – Holding the fourth and final MAC Freedom Tournament spot with two games to go, the King's women's lacrosse travels to Misericordia on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. match. The Monarchs are 3-2 in conference play, one game ahead of fifth-place Manhattanville, while Misericordia is 5-0 and tied for first with FDU-Florham. A win tomorrow could move King's as high as tied for third.

Last Time Out
King's (6-9, 3-2 MAC Freedom) is coming off a two-game win streak, picking up an 8-5 victory over DeSales this past Saturday. Leading the entire game, the Monarchs used a strong 4-0 first half to prevent a late Bulldogs' comeback. Senior midfielder Anastasia Araviakis finished with four goals and one assist to secure a spot at second-place all-time on King's career scoring list with 251 points. Midfielder Kendra McCoy had a solid outing as well, netting three goals and recording her fourth hat trick of the season.    

Bringing the "A" Game
Araviakis is having a standout senior campaign, scoring 56 goals with 21 assists and 38 ground balls. The 56-goal season ranks fifth all-time at King's, and with two games remaining, she can potentially move higher. Araviakis also leads the team with 13 hat tricks and is second in the conference for total season goals.  

Key Contributors
Junior captain Amanda Carroll is second on the team with 41 points (33 goals, 8 assists), while fellow captain McCoy ranks third at 29 points (22 goals, 7 assists).
Freshmen Emma Lehman, Kylie McCarthy, Mary Kate Klodarska and Caitlin Butchko have provided some young talent for the Monarchs, accounting for 65 total points this year.
Defensively, King's has caused 10.53 turnovers a game which stands as third in the conference  

Defensive Player of the Week
Freshman goalie Orla Cottell picked up her first-career MAC Freedom Player of the Week honors by recording a 5.50 goals-against average and a .732 save percentage over the last two games. Her 125 saves currently puts her at second most in the conference.

Scouting Misericordia
The Cougars (9-6, 5-0 MAC Freedom) are coming off their fifth-straight victory after defeating Manhattanville 20-7 and features the top scoring offense in the conference netting 15.87 goals a game. Kaila Quinlivan leads the team with 64 points on 40 goals and 24 assists, while Olivia Garcia and Emily Connell have scored 36 and 27 goals, respectively. Tori Hodges has started 13 games in goal, where she holds a .429 save percentage and a 9.53 goals-against average.

Following the Game
King's wraps up the season on Saturday, April 28 for a noon game against Eastern.
