King's Women's Laxers to Face Misericordia in MAC Freedom Tournament Semi-Finals

KING'S WOMEN'S LAXERS HEADING TO MISERICORDIA FOR MAC FREEDOM SEMI-FINALS WEDNESDAY

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's lacrosse team will make its fifth straight post-season appearance when the Lady Monarchs travel to face Misericordia University in the semi-finals of the MAC Freedom Conference Tournament Wednesday at 4:00 PM at Anderson Field in Dallas.

Ticket prices are set at $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2 for students, while children under age-six are free.

King's is the third-seed in the event and will take a 7-10 overall record and a 4-3 conference mark into the matchup.  Misericordia, meanwhile, is seeded second after wrapping up the regular-season with a 10-7 overall record while going 6-1 in league competition. Misericordia won the regular-season meeting between the team on April 24 by a score of 17-4.

King's is led by senior midfielder Anastasia Araviakis who tops the team with 84 points on 61 goals and 23 assists. On Tuesday Araviakis was named to the All-Freedom Conference squad for the fourth straight season. Junior midfielder Amanda Carroll follows with 50 points on 38 goals and 12 assists while senior midfielder Kendra McCoy adds 32 points on 25 goals and seven assists. Both Carroll and McCoy were second-team All-Freedom choices.

Freshman Emma Lehman has contributed 24 points on 18 goals and six assists. Freshman Mary Kate Klodarska has tallied 19 points in nine goals and 11 assists while fellow rookie Kylie McCarthy adds 18 points on 15 goals and three assists. Freshman Caitlin Butchko chips in with 16 points on eight goals and eight assists.


Defensively, King's is led by a pair of All-Freedom Conference selections in senior Megan O'Brien and sophomore Kelly Pierce. Sophomores Jennifer Smalley and Mia Dardanelli are also key performers defensively. In goal, freshman Orla Cottell earned second-team All-Freedom honors after posting a 12.0 goals against average while making 141 saves. In conference games she owned a 10.1 goals against average with 83 saves.

Misericordia is led by Kaila Quinlivan with 71 points on 45 goals and 26 assists while Olivia Garcia and Amy Roth follow with 58 and 51 points respectively. In goal, Tori Hodges has a 9.60 goals against average while making 92 saves.


The winner of Wednesday's game will play for the Freedom Conference championship against the winner of the other semi-final pairing between top-seeded FDU-Florham and fourth-seeded Eastern on Saturday at the site of the highest remaining seed at a time to be announced.
