WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 26, 2018) – The King's College football team will look to get back into the win column this weekend, traveling to Williamsport, PA for the second Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) game of the season at Lycoming College. King's is coming off a 38-17 loss to Stevenson University Saturday afternoon, as this upcoming weekend's road game is King's first road trip since Week 1's 24-0 loss at Moravian College on September 1.

Last Time Out For King's: Stevenson University senior quarterback Dan Williams threw for 348 yards through the air, completing 31 of his 41 passes Saturday, helping the visiting Mustangs knock off the King's College football team 38-17 in McCarthy Stadium on Homecoming for the Monarchs.
King's posted 281 yards of total offense on Saturday, rushing for 155 yards, while picking up eight of 16 third-down chances Saturday. Downes finished with two scores and 65 yards on the ground after his 15 attempts, and
Titus Nelson added 33 yards on the ground as well. Sophomore
Tommy Klock was 8-of-17 for 123 yards in relief of
Gabe Boccella, also rushing for 42 yards.
Garospe finished with 93 yards on three receptions, while
Tim Costantino added four catches for nine yards.
Devin Ringler also posted 26 yards receiving. Defensively, sophomore
Charles McCall posted 12 tackles total, including sharing a tackle for loss, while linebacker mate
Yusef Wheeler had five solo and five assisted stops. Sophomore
Mando Sallavanti collected nine stops Saturday, forcing a fumble, and
Jaret Horn also made eight stops.
The Book On The Monarchs (1-2, 0-1 MAC):
- King's College comes into the game as the sixth-best scoring offense in the MAC, posting 27.3 points per game. King's is also sixth in total offense with 374.0 yards per game.
- The rushing attack for the Monarchs has been its strong suit thus far, averaging 205.3 yards a game on the ground. That ranks second among MAC schools behind only Delaware Valley (213.8).
- The Monarchs will look to get the passing attack going this week, as KC is 10th in the league in completion percentage at 48.1, while the one passing TD this season is 11th.
- Junior Jayner Gorospe has climbed the depth chart this year, catching the team's longest pass of the season against Stevenson, a 68-yard completion from Klock.
- Running back Jordan Downes is currently second in the MAC in rushing with 85.0 yards per game, while his four scores rushing is tied for the second-most.
- Downes has five scores on the season, which ranks 33rd nationally and second in the conference.
- Senior Ben Bakanas was honored before Saturday's Homecoming game as the 2018 recipient of the Fr. Sullivan award, which goes to a junior or senior who demonstrates hard work, discipline, and leadership as a member of the King's College football team, and who reflects the stated values of the greater King's College and Holy Cross communities.
- Sophomore Tim Costantino is 17th in the MAC in receptions with 11 on the season, averaging 51 yards a game receiving.
- King's is 12 for its last 12 inside the red zone, scoring seven touchdowns with freshman Jack Barreras connecting on all five of his field goal attempts. He is halfway to the school record for FG makes in a season, which is 10 by Ryan Cain in 2010.
- Defensively, King's is led by linebackers Charles McCall and Mando Sallavanti, who are third and fourth in the conference in tackles, respectively.
- McCall is 68th nationally in total stops with 10.0 per game.
- Freshman Dhehhus Anumgba is fourth in the conference in pass break-ups per game, defending 1.0 per game on average.
- King's is currently second in the MAC in third-down conversion rate at 52.2 percent, which is 20th out of 247 Division III schools.
- The Monarchs have recovered five fumbles, best in the MAC and 23rd in the nation.
- King's is looking to get to 2-2 after four games for the third straight season.
The Book On The Warriors (3-1, 2-0 MAC):
- The Warriors are looking to post their first four-game winning streak since opening the 2014 season with five straight wins, having defeated FDU-Florham last Saturday 27-21.
- Lycoming leads the MAC in kickoff return average (25.0), net punting (36.86) and time of possession (33:38).
- Senior Nick Costello became the 10th receiver in school history to post four career 100-yard games with his 145-yard effort against FDU-Florham.
- Costello needs 135 more receiving yards to become the sixth player in school history to post 2,000 in a career.
- Junior Christoff Minott had both a passing and receiving touchdown against FDU-Florham, becoming the first player to achieve the feat since 2011.
- Six Warriors have an interception this season, the most for the team since seven picked off a pass in 2015.
- With a 64-yard touchdown reception and a 19-yard touchdown pass, junior Christoff Minott enjoyed a breakout game at FDU-Florham.
- Minott is the first Warrior to post a receiving and passing touchdown in the same game since Matt Atkinson caught a 14-yard pass and tossed a 29-yard touchdown in a 40-7 win over Wilkes on Oct. 15, 2011. The touchdowns were the first of Minott's career, as the junior from Upper Darby, Pa., has caught nine passes for 143 yards in his career.
- Sixth in school history with 1,865 receiving yards and seventh with 116 receptions, senior Nick Costellohas moved into the top five in program history with 20 career touchdown receptions, sitting just one shy of being in a tie with former teammate Ryan Umpleby (2012-15) for fourth in program history.
- Costello is now just 135 yards from becoming the sixth receiver in program history to post 2,000 receiving yards in a career, while he is nine receptions shy of becoming the sixth to post 125 in a career.
- Freshman Elijah Shemory has continued to impress during Lycoming's season-opening 3-1 run, as the rookie quarterback has already posted two of the top 10 pass efficiency ratings in head coach Mike Clark's11 years.
- Against FDU-Florham, Shemory had an impressive 206.46 pass efficiency rating after completing 11-of-19 passing for 242 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a 183.31 pass efficiency rating against Widener when he completed 10-of-15 passing for 169 yards and a touchdown passing.
- Head coach Mike Clark is 6-4 all-time against King's College in his tenure at Lycoming.
King's Against Lycoming All-Time: King's and Lycoming goes back a long time, as the two teams first met in 1947 with the Monarchs taking three of the first four meetings. In the first match-up in 43 years in 1993, Lycoming knocked off the Monarchs 41-21. All-time, Saturday's hosts hold an 18-8-1 all-time edge, winning last year's game 44-41 in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
