The Coaches: Jeff Knarr is in his 10th season with the Monarchs, as he is only the second coach of King's College football since 1991. Knarr took over for Rich Mannello, who was the head coach since football was reinstated at King's in 1993. Head coach John Marzka has been at the helm of the Albright football team for the last 13 seasons, posting an 85-55 record along with seven post-season wins since his arrival. Marzka has earned MAC Coach of the Year once, while being named as the Nike NCAA Division III Coach of the Year in 2009, when Albright earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals after an 11-2 record.Â
Looking at Albright: The Lions of Albright College over the years have been one of the best football programs in the conference, earning 12 MAC titles dating back to 1959. The Lions have struggled though over the last two seasons, having dropped their last 18 games dating back to a 28-14 win over Lebanon Valley College in 2017. The Lions do possess one of the best passing offenses in the conference, averaging 248.4 yards per game through the air, which ranks fourth in the MAC. The Lions are allowing 488.3 yards per game, which is 10th-most in the conference. Sophomore Tony Thorpe is getting the ball a lot on the ground for the Lions, as his 130 carries this season are the fourth-most in the MAC, as he averages 71.7 yards per game on the ground. Jimmy Lahay has 18 TD passes this season, third-most in the MAC, while Kevin Zehner is seventh in receiving with 84.7 yards per game.Â
Rocking The New Outfit: King's will be in white pants with red jerseys and gold helmets for the first-time ever on Saturday against Albright.Â
Single Digit Tough:Â The Monarchs award single digits based on merit, and recently named two more as Single Digit players. So far this season, three players (
Gabe Boccella, Joe Damiano,
Elijah Demosthene) have earned single digits, including most recently
Elijah Demosthene, who will now wear No. 6. Due to NCAA regulations, linemen can not wear single digits, but Joe Damiano will wear a single digit in practice. With those three, King's now has eight Single Digit Tough players: Sallavanti (1), Horn (2), Downes (3), McCall (4), Shelton (5), Demosthene (6), Boccella (8), Damiano (66), Swartz (67).Â
Captains This Weekend: The Monarchs will send out sophomore Brendon Mozeleski, along with
Gabe Boccella,
Mando Sallavanti and
Peter Swartz for the opening coin toss Saturday.
A Look At The Monarchs:Â

- The Monarchs have three players in the top four in fumbles forced this year, as Yusef Wheeler, Myles Shelton and Elijah Demosthene each have two on the season.Â

- On the other side, the Monarchs have surrendered 16 touchdowns in 29 attempts in the red zone to opposition.Â
